Injection guide: week 7
If you are injecting using the vial and syringe
Remove your first 5.0 mg vial from the fridge. Then, using a new needle and syringe, withdraw your dose from the vial and inject 5.0 mg once this week. Safely dispose of your used needle and syringe in the sharps container, and your vial in the garbage.

If you are injecting using the KwikPen
Remove the pen cap from your Mounjaro KwikPen and attach a new pen needle. Then, after priming the pen, inject 5.0 mg once this week. Remove the used pen needle and safely dispose of it in the sharps container.

Important reminder on pricing
The price of Mounjaro varies by dose and by format. As you gradually increase your dose over time, the price of your prescription may increase.
If you’re following the standard dosing schedule, the price of your prescription will increase when your dose increases to 7.5 mg in week 9.
If you do not have insurance coverage and are concerned about the price of your prescription increasing, contact your healthcare practitioner before your order ships next week. They may advise you stay on your current dose, or suggest alternative treatment options.
What to do if you skip a dose
Skipping a week or forgetting to take a dose can happen. Here’s what to do if you miss a dose:
- If it’s been 4 days or less since you missed a dose, take your skipped dose as soon as you remember. Then, take your next dose on your regular schedule.
- If it’s been 4 days or more since you missed a dose, skip that dose altogether. Then, take your next dose on your regular schedule. Do not increase your dose or take an extra one.
If you miss more than two doses in a row, contact your healthcare practitioner - they may advise you to restart at a lower dose.
