About Viagra® Oral Strips

Viagra oral strips are a new formulation of ED treatment that allows for absorption of the active ingredient in Viagra (sildenafil), to be done through sildenafil orodispersible films, which is a medical way of saying dissolvable Viagra strips that you take orally.

It’s used the same way that Viagra tablets are used, in that it’s a form of treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED), so that patients with a penis can get and maintain an erection long enough to take part in sexual activities.

If you’d like to learn more about Viagra oral strips, you can do so here.

Viagra (sildenafil) oral strips work by helping to relax the blood vessels within the penis, when it’s sexually stimulated.

In turn, this lets blood flow into your penis, which encourages improved erectile function.

Viagra oral strips (sildenafil orodispersible films) are used as an ongoing treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED), in patients that are having difficulty with getting an erection and/or maintaining that erection long enough to enjoy sexual activities.

It’s good to note here that Viagra oral strips are used for the same function as other forms of Viagra (i.e., tablets, etc.).

There are a few easy-to-follow steps that you can use to safely take sildenafil oral strips:

  • Always take your prescription in the way that’s instructed by your healthcare practitioner.
  • Take your medication 30-60 minutes before sexual activities for the best effect. If you need to, you can take your Viagra medication up to 4 hours before sexual activities.
  • Take your medication with or without food, but remember that Viagra may take longer to start working with meals that include higher fat contents.

There are also some simple instructions you can follow to use 50 mg sildenafil oral strips:

  1. Place the film on your tongue with a dry finger. Wet fingers may cause the strip to start to dissolve on your finger.
  2. Allow the strip to fully dissolve on your tongue before swallowing it. You can take it with or without water.
  3. In some cases, if your dosage is 100 mg, you may need to take a second film per dose. Wait until the first film is fully dissolved, before taking the second one.

REMEMBER: Never take a higher dosage than you’re prescribed, or take your Viagra oral strips more than once per day. This can result in additional or more severe, even dangerous side effects.

It’s important to note that not everyone will experience side effects from using sildenafil strips. The most common side effects of using dissolvable viagra strips include:

  • Headaches
  • Flushing in the face
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Indigestion
  • Diarrhea
  • Stomach/abdominal pain
  • Dizziness
  • Dry, stuffy, swollen nose
  • Throat tightness
  • Dry mouth or decreased mouth sensitivity
  • Arm or leg pain
  • Myalgia (muscle pain)
  • Back pain
  • Sleepiness or drowsiness
  • Cold or flu symptoms
  • Increased erections

There are some less common side effects like ear or eye-related issues, skin reactions, or even allergic reactions, but if you start to experience any of these side effects, you should stop taking your dissolvable viagra strips immediately and contact your healthcare practitioner for further guidance.

There are a number of things that could prevent Viagra oral strips from being safe for you to use. You shouldn’t use any Viagra products if you:

  • Are taking any drugs containing nitrates
  • Have vision loss in either or both eyes due to a condition called non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION)
  • Have ever had an allergic reaction to sildenafil or any of the other ingredients in sildenafil orodispersible films
  • Aren’t supposed to be engaging in sexual activities, because of another condition
  • Are taking medication for pulmonary hypertension

In addition to these concerns, there are a number of people that shouldn’t use Viagra oral strips for other reasons, such as:

  • People with heart problems (i.e., irregular heart beats, heart failure, angina, etc.)
  • People over the age of 65
  • People who have had a stroke
  • People with low or uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • People with liver or kidney problems
  • People with sickle cell anemia
  • People that have a deformed penis or other penis-related issues
  • People who have ever had an erection lasting more than 4 hours
  • People with stomach ulcers or other bleeding issues
  • People with the eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa

Yes, regardless of the form of Viagra that you’re using (i.e., pills, PrViagra ODF, etc.), the effects will be essentially the same.

They should both be taken 30-60 minutes before beginning sexual activity, although they can be taken as long as 4 hours beforehand. Neither form of dosage should be taken more than once in a 24-hour period.

It is important to remember that Viagra may affect people differently, so communication with your practitioner after starting us is the best way to find a consistent dosage and dosing schedule that works best for you.

Some patients have a hard time swallowing pills, and this happens for a wide variety of reasons.

Regardless of why, PrViagra ODF oral strips give patients the freedom to discretely take their treatment, without having to worry about taking pills and still enjoying the medication’s effects.

Other Viagra medications could interact with PrViagra ODF oral strips, so it’s important not to take any other erectile dysfunction treatments at the same time as PrViagra ODF without first consulting your practitioner.

They’ll be able to determine whether there are other products that you may be able to use safely in tandem with PrViagra ODF, or adjust your Viagra Oral Strip dosage to improve its effect and provide you with the desired results.

You should be able to begin noticing the effects of your PrViagra ODF oral strips between 30-60 minutes after you take your recommended dose.

You can take your PrViagra ODF up to 4 hours ahead of time, but don’t forget, Viagra medications only work with stimulation. This means, you won’t notice any potential impacts of taking your PrViagra ODF until you begin sexual activity.

PrViagra ODF oral strips should be stored within their original packaging until use. The package should be stored in an area that’s kept between 15-30°C.

REMEMBER: Never take expired Viagra pills or PrViagra ODF oral strips, and always keep these kinds of medications out of reach/sight of children.

How it works

Frequently asked questions

Are dissolvable Viagra strips available over-the-counter?

No, in Canada, dissolvable Viagra oral strips are not available over-the-counter. This means, you’ll be required to get assessed by a licensed healthcare practitioner, in order to ensure that Viagra medications are a safe treatment option for you.

Thankfully, with Fellix, you can complete a short online assessment in just a few minutes time, and one of our practitioners will get back to your request with a response, typically within 24 hours.

Plus, if you’re accepted for a prescription, Felix’s pharmacy partners can fill and ship your medications directly (and discreetly) to your doorstep – at no extra cost!

Are sildenafil orodispersible films covered by insurance?

This is impossible for Felix to answer generally, because every insurance company and coverage package is going to look somewhat different from one another.

Plus, some companies still consider Viagra medications to be elective or ‘lifestyle’ medications, which make them ineligible for coverage. That’s why we’d suggest reaching out to your insurance representative ahead of making your request with Felix.

The good news is that if you are covered, Felix can bill your insurer directly, so you don’t have to wait for repayment!

SIDE NOTE: Insurance coverage for online medications through Felix doesn’t include the cost of your assessment.

Can I buy sildenafil oral strips online?

You might be able to order Viagra strips online, but you’ll need to get assessed by a practitioner first, so that they can ensure that sildenafil orodispersible films are the right treatment option for you, based on your health and medical history.

The good news is that if they think it could be right for you, they’ll be able to give you a prescription, and you can even order your Viagra strips online through Felix’s pharmacy partners, who can ship it to your selected address for no extra cost.

Can I get a Viagra oral strip (sildenafil strip) prescription online?

You may be able to get a prescription for online sildenafil strips, but before you’ll be able to access these types of medications, you’ll need to speak with a licensed clinician, like the ones you can access at Felix.

Just complete a short online assessment, and if your practitioner believes that ordering Viagra strips online is a good treatment option for you, they’ll be able to write you a prescription for it.

Do I need an appointment to get a Viagra oral strips prescription in Canada?

No, when you choose Felix, you won’t have to wait weeks for a doctor’s appointment, or spend hours standing around busy pharmacies waiting for your prescription to be filled.

Felix is making accessing Viagra (sildenafil) strips online quick and seamless for Canadians, through our secure, chat-based online assessment system.

All you have to do is complete your online assessment, at your convenience, and if your practitioner thinks that Viagra oral strips could be right for you, they’ll be able to provide you with a prescription.

How do I get a Viagra oral strips prescription?

The first step towards getting a prescription for online sildenafil strips is to get assessed by a licensed healthcare practitioner.

With Felix, you can do this from the comfort and privacy of your own home, through our secure, chat-based online assessment system.

If your assigned clinician thinks that ordering Viagra strips online is a good treatment option for you, they’ll be able to write you a prescription.

Then, if you want, Felix’s pharmacy partners can fill and ship your medication to your home, for no additional charge!

Is it safe to order Viagra Oral Strips online?

Yes, it’s safe to order Viagra Oral Strips online in Canada through Felix.

We ensure our treatments are authorized for sale by Health Canada, and we only provide treatments to patients that have secured a prescription from a licensed healthcare practitioner.

Felix is also happy to provide online assessments with patients across Canada to help determine if PrViagra ODF oral strips could be a beneficial treatment option for you.

Is PrViagra ODF the same as the oral strips?

PrViagra ODF is the brand name of the oral strip medication that we provide to our eligible patients in Canada.

For all intents and purposes, you could refer to these treatments as either PrViagra ODF or simply oral strips and it would be accurate.

These are an alternative to traditional Viagra medication pills, which are meant to be swallowed whole rather than dissolved within your mouth.

What is the difference between orodispersible vs sublingual medication?

Orodispersible tablets or strips look like regular medications that you would swallow, but they’re designed to disintegrate in your mouth once they make contact with your saliva. This makes them extremely easy to swallow.

Alternatively, sublingual medications are designed to be specifically kept under your tongue until they dissolve, rather than just ‘in your mouth’ like orodispersible tablets.

PrViagra ODF oral strips are an orodispersible form of medication, so they’re extremely easy to use; even if you normally have difficulty taking pills.

Can I be accurately assessed remotely?

Absolutely. Our online assessments have been designed to ask all the necessary questions required for diagnosis. We’ve worked with specialists to create an assessment process that can provide sufficient information for the healthcare practitioner to determine whether or not you are eligible for a prescription and craft an appropriate treatment plan.

Does Felix replace my doctor?

No. Felix provides a faster, hassle-free way for you to get a treatment plan for certain conditions, but our service does not replace your primary care provider. For matters that extend beyond obtaining a lifestyle treatment safely and easily, we encourage you to consult your primary health practitioner in person — whether for checkups, personal health concerns, or to inform them about your current treatments or treatment plans.

It’s an emergency. What do I do?

Call 911 or proceed to your nearest emergency room immediately. Felix is not intended for medical emergencies. Once the emergency has been addressed or resolved, contact your prescribing practitioner to inform them of your experience as this may impact your current treatment plan.

Do I need to complete my online visit at a scheduled time?

No. We use an asynchronous telemedicine model so you can complete your online visit in your own time and we save your progress so you can come back later to finish it.

If you are completing a visit in the mental health or weight loss categories, your healthcare practitioner may require a phone or video call to discuss your medical profile further during the assessment process.

Does the online visit require a phone or video appointment?

Most assessments do not require a phone or video conversation. Once a prescriber has reviewed the info in your assessment they will respond to you via secure instant messages that you can access within your Felix account.

How does the visit work?

After creating an account, you will complete a medical assessment for evaluation by one of the Felix healthcare practitioners.

During your assessment, you will have the opportunity to send your practitioner questions via secure messaging.

In most cases, practitioners will complete your assessment with secure messaging alone but sometimes they may determine you require an audio or video visit and/or further diagnostic testing to help determine the best treatment plan for you.

If your practitioner has determined a prescription treatment is appropriate, they will approve your visit and write you a prescription. Our pharmacy will then ship your prescription to your home.

You’ll be able to message your healthcare practitioner if you have questions or want to make changes to your treatment at any time.

How quickly will a healthcare practitioner review my online visit?

You can expect to receive a response from a healthcare practitioner within 24 hours of submission. If you’ve been waiting longer than this, please reach out to our Patient Support team through the chat bubble in the bottom right corner of your account or our Contact Us page.

I completed my online visit. Now what?

Great, you’ve already taken the first step! Next, a healthcare practitioner will review your assessment and if necessary, will send you a link to book an online audio or video appointment with them. This appointment will help them determine the best treatment plan for you. If your healthcare practitioner thinks you will benefit from an available medication, they will write you a prescription. Our pharmacy can ship your medication to your home if you would like your medication dispensed through the Felix Pharmacy network.

Do I have to be home to receive my package?

How and when can I update my shipping address?

Your address can be updated from the Shipping tab of your account. Kindly note that any changes need to be made 48hr ahead of your refill date.

How long will it take to get my medication?

Not long. After completing your assessment, a practitioner will generally respond within 24 hours, and often much sooner.

The pharmacy will process and fill your prescription within 2-3 business days of your prescription approval date if there is nothing blocking them from doing so.

All packages are shipped via Express Post, which usually takes 2-3 business days. You will receive an email with your tracking number once your treatment has been shipped.

How many days do I have to notify you of an undelivered or lost package, or damaged medication?

You have 14 days from the date your tracking link was sent to notify us of an undelivered or lost package, or damaged medication.

I received an email with a tracking number but it doesn’t seem to be working!

Your tracking number will be activated when the courier picks up your shipment from the pharmacy. Please allow until 6 pm the following business day, and you should then be able to see the status of your package. If the tracking number still isn’t working, please reach out to our Patient Support team through the chat bubble in the bottom right corner of your account or our Contact Us page and we’ll look into it.

Is your packaging discreet?

Absolutely. All Felix shipments arrive in a nondescript blister package so you can have your treatment shipped wherever makes sense for you as long as there is someone there to sign for it.

What do I do if my package was returned to Felix?

We’ll contact you via email if your package is returned to us!

For most treatments, your meds will be destroyed 1 month after your fill date should you fail to respond to Felix Customer Support or contact the partner pharmacy. Temperature controlled medications may have a reduced reshipment eligibility window due to their limited shelf life, in accordance with product guidelines. All reshipments are at the discretion of a pharmacist’s professional judgment.

If you require assistance with a returned package, please reach out to our Patient Support team through the chat bubble in the bottom right corner of your account or our Contact Us page.

What happens if there isn’t anyone available for the delivery?

Depending on your province of residence and the treatment being dispensed, your Felix packages may require a signature on delivery. If this cannot be collected where necessary, your package will be available at the closest post office for pick up. Usually, packages are available for up to 14 days after the first attempted delivery. If you don’t pick up your package within the allotted time, it will be returned to the sender, which may cause a further delay in your delivery.

Felix adheres strictly to all the regulations set forth by all applicable Colleges of Pharmacists and Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons in which we operate.

Is this safe?

Absolutely. All prescriptions obtained via Felix are provided by licensed Canadian healthcare practitioners—the same as you would get at a hospital, doctor’s office, or clinic. How do I change my credit card information?

Go to Billing, and you will be able to update the credit card information on file.

How much does a checkup visit cost?

The cost of the checkup visit varies by category, but in many cases there is no charge, so long as you complete your checkup visit before your current prescription expires.

How much is the online visit?

Felix charges a fee for the online visit. In most cases the fee is $40 but varies by treatment category. The visit fee includes a prescription valid for up to a year (depending on the condition) and on-going support from the healthcare practitioner or pharmacist.

How much will my treatment cost?

It depends. Treatment costs vary but will be in line with what you would pay at a pharmacy in person. You will see the estimated cost of your treatment before insurance, during the online visit but will only be billed for medication costs for your prescription once it is approved and sent to our pharmacy. Once approved, your treatment and payment will be processed within one to two days.

Keep in mind that you won’t necessarily need to pay the full price yourself. If you have insurance, Felix’s partner pharmacies will bill your insurer directly. You may also be eligible for financial support in your province.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards for any aspect of your treatment not covered by insurance or other financial support

Why can’t I see medication prices on the website?

While it is illegal in Canada to display market pricing for prescription medication, you will be able to see the estimated cost of medication during the online visit. The price shown is an estimation and will vary if the healthcare practitioner prescribes you a different medication, or if you have insurance or benefits coverage. All estimated prices shown during the online visit include the pharmacy fill fee based on the refill schedule of your choice.

Will I be charged for the visit fee, even if a prescription is denied?

Yes, the visit fee is charged when you submit your visit and is generally refunded if the visit is denied by your healthcare practitioner.
Exceptions apply: Weight Loss visit fees are refunded only if you are deemed clinically ineligible. Visit fees for Diagnostic categories (Metabolic Health, STIs) and Menopause are non-refundable. For these complex health categories, the visit fee covers the practitioner’s time to review your medical assessment, issuing a lab requisition, reviewing your lab results with you, and making a diagnosis if applicable.

Am I covered by my insurance?

Treatment coverage varies greatly between different insurance plans.

The good news is that if you are covered, Felix can bill your insurer directly, and then process your treatment plan at no additional cost to you. We recommend that you upload your private and/or provincial benefit card during the online visit so that our pharmacy partner can apply any coverage you are eligible for before processing your treatment plan.

Insurance coverage for treatment plans through Felix doesn’t include the cost of your visit.

I didn’t have insurance when I first got my prescription, but now I have it. What do I do?

Go to Billing where you can add or update your insurance information on file.

I forgot to upload my insurance information before my first fill was charged. What can I do now?

You will find the official receipt for your medication costs within your package from the pharmacy. This receipt can be used to submit a manual claim directly to your insurance/benefits provider. Future refills will be direct-billed directly to your insurance provider, once you have uploaded your insurance information from the Billing tab of your account.

I uploaded my insurance information during my online visit but still see a cost for the medication in my profile.

The coverage you are eligible for will not be deducted until the pharmacy processes your refill, so the price you see in your profile is the estimated maximum medication cost before benefits. Once the pharmacy ships your meds, the actual cost will be displayed for the respective refill.

Is birth control covered by OHIP in Ontario?

OHIP+ covers some birth control for eligible residents of Ontario who are under 25 years old and do not have private insurance. You can check if your birth control medication is covered here. Make sure to upload your Ontario health card during your online visit so our pharmacy partners can apply your coverage directly.
