What are signs that your blood sugar is too high?

Unfortunately, with type 2 diabetes, no signs are often shown until issues become severe. And the type 2 diabetes symptoms you may experience could be mild or infrequently occurring.

It’s important to remember that blood sugar can be improved by making positive lifestyle changes, like your diet and the amount of exercise you get regularly.

When you’re trying to determine if your blood sugar is too high, signs could appear both as mild or severe symptoms, depending on how high your blood sugars are, as well as how your body uniquely reacts to high blood sugar. These could include:

  • Increased thirst
  • Weak pulse
  • Lightheadedness
  • Drowsiness
  • Weakness or fatigue
  • Urinating more often
  • Unexplained or unplanned weight loss
  • Blurred vision or vision changes
  • Hot, dry, or flushed-looking skin
  • Restlessness
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Loss of appetite
  • Stomach pain
  • Vomiting

If you start to experience any of these type 2 diabetes symptoms, you should let your practitioner know right away and seek immediate in-person care, so that they can start helping you find appropriate, safe measures to provide better blood sugar management.
